2011 Board Members:

Cory Allen, President
Cory Allen is serving his third term as President of the Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club and second as the Los Angeles County Regional Director for the California Young Democrats. At the age of 24, he is currently the youngest person ever elected to lead the organization, which is one of the oldest LGBT Democratic Clubs in California. Under his leadership, Lambda has become a premier LGBT Dem Club in Long Beach and the South Bay area, making sure that LGBT Democrats and their allies are elected to various City, State and Federal Office.
In his time as Regional Director for the California Young Democrats, Cory has helped the presence and voice of Young Dems in the region grow throughout the year. He assisted in the chartering of two new organizations as well as leading one of the largest delegations of volunteers during the California Democratic Party’s “Operation: Game Changer” initiative in 2011.
Professionally, Cory serves as a Field Representative to Assembly Member Ricardo Lara, and recently worked on the recent special election to send Janice Hahn to Congress. Previously, he was the Special Assistant to Long Beach Councilmember Robert Garcia and also served as his Campaign Manager in the Councilmember’s 2009 and 2010 elections.

Herlinda Chico, Executive Vice-President
Herlinda Chico is a long-time ally of the LGBT community. She has worked with elected officials on legislation protecting and promoting the rights of the LGBT community and marched in several No on Prop 8 rallies including the “Meet in the Middle” rally for Marriage Equality. As the first in her family to go to college, Herlinda earned a degree in Communications from California State University, San Bernardino. During her time in college, Herlinda was President of the University Speech and Debate team and won several awards and accolades. Professionally, Herlinda has worked as a community liaison to various non-profit organizations and elected officials. Currently, she serves as the Executive Assistant at Central City East Association, one of Los Angeles largest Business Improvement Districts.

Armando Vazquez-Ramos, Vice-President of Communications
Armando Vazquez-Ramos, Jr. was born and raised in Long Beach and comes from a tradition public service, politics, higher education and organized labor. A graduate of CSULB, he holds a degree in Public Relations and is currently the Field and Legislative Deputy to Fourth District Councilmember Patrick O’Donnell. Armando first came to the Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club in 2006 while working previously in the same capacity for Second District Councilmember Suja Lowenthal. Armando has also worked in the private sector for several of the largest public relations agencies in the world, writing copy and press releases, organizing special events and coordinating media relations. His passion for politics and public service are followed closely by an avid interest in film, art, media, cultural anthropology, and issues of urban living and planning.

Jeff Price, Vice-President of Political Action
Jeff Price graduated cum laude from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Whittier Law School. Jeff is a member of the State Bar of California, the Long Beach Bar Association, the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association, the Long Beach Barristers, the Harbor Area Applicant’s Association and was the 2008 “Mentor of the Year” for the VIP Mentoring Program, a program designed to help parolees become self-reliant, self-supporting, self-respecting, and crime-free by providing an extra level of personal support during re-entry and adjust to community life outside of prison. Jeff also provides pro-bono legal work at The Center Long Beach legal clinic. Jeff is also very active in the community and politically. Jeff currently serves a State Councilmember on the California Council on Criminal Justice, serves as a Long Beach City Commissioner on the Public Safety Advisory Commission, is an elected DSCC Delegate representing the 54th Assembly District, has served as an executive board member on the 54th Assembly District Task Force and has been on the executive board of the Long Beach Lambda Democratic club for the past three years; serving as the Chair of the Human Rights Awards Banquet in 2008. Jeff is happily, legally, married to his husband, Edward, and they are the proud parents of their son, Parker.

Mark Magdaleno, Secretary
Mark Magdaleno is what you might call a Social/Community Concierge, connecting active people to causes, volunteer opportunities and each other. A resident of Long Beach, Mark (affectionately nicknamed Markie) has been involved with the Long Beach community from the day he moved, about 12 years ago. Whether it is organizing a benefit, neighborhood clean up or a crazy theme party, Mark knows how to excite and motivate those who otherwise might sit on the sidelines. With a 15-year background in Advertising & Marketing and most recently his job with the 7th District Councilwoman Tonia Reyes Uranga, Mark is an effective communicator for LGBT issues. Mark lives with his partner Dennis Skeen (hairstylist to the stars!) and their menagerie of furry kids.

A.Stephanie Loftin, Immediate Past President
Stephanie has been involved with Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club since 1990. The group has honored her with the “Woman of the Year” award at the annual Human Rights Banquet, twice. Involvement in Lambda has provided access to elected officials, numerous of them credit their success to this organization. As Immediate Past President, Stephanie cordially invites you to become involved w the Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club as we continue in our efforts to have members and friends of the LGBTQ community elected to public office. It is great fun!
